Biography:
Mateusz Beźnic (b. 1975, Poland) is a visual artist living and working in Manchester, UK, since 2016. He studied Fine Art at the University of the Arts London and the University of Salford. Previously, he studied Media and Visual Arts at the University of Radom in Poland. His work has been shown in institutions and galleries across the UK and internationally.
Artist Statement:
My work grows from form, colour and contrast. I consider abstraction and semi-abstraction a higher language of art.
I enjoy working at a large scale; the size of the work creates a new relationship between the image and the viewer.
My education connects the academic tradition of Central Europe with the philosophy of Western art.
I work on canvas, paper and other surfaces. I am interested in presence, its weight, and its ambiguity.
